Xbox Series hardware sales fell 70% year over year, PS5 fell 40%+, and Switch & Switch 2 sales were down 10%+ vs. last year’s Switch.
Gaming has been in decline since COVID ended but this is brutal.

Spider-Man is the peak example of this. Who Peter's real parents were does not matter, the idea that any ol' kid could become a hero is powerful and that's what makes it work. Even when they tried to retcon his parents into super spies or whatever, nobody gave a shit, it's pointless.
The idea that heroes can come from nowhere is simple, yet resonates so much with the human condition. It's so much more interesting and engaging than being obsessed with bloodlines and the Skywalker legacy.
