I thought I would read it all in a couple of bursts, but actually I ended up taking maybe ten days or so, because each short chapter is really nice to just sit with for a while before moving on to the next one! I suspect it would work really well as an advent treat

I love this queer take on "city girl goes back to small hometown" - it doesn't overly romanticise the recent past or make the city girl seem foolish or shallow for choosing to leave, but it still celebrates what she finds when she does go back

Highly rec this wonderfully sweet f/f romance novella! So vividly drawn and grounded in its setting and characters - a real pleasure to get lost in!

It’s very important that you all know that mid-writing this article, I went upstairs for something and on my way back down, MISSED THE BOTTOM STAIR despite the fact it was all I was thinking about. Can only assume it was a warning. Pray for me.
thedailytism.com
The stair, which vanishes from your memory whenever you forget to actively concentrate on its existence, was ruled to be maliciously attempting to murder you, having deemed you unworthy of treading on it.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

Less than a week before Bethan and Mali are out in the world!

Mali has some really bright Christmas lights shining directly into Bethan's front room. Bethan hates that.

WILL THEY EVER OVERCOME THEIR DIFFERENCES AND KISS ON THE MOUTH???

If you want to understand open adoption, it makes sense to start with birth parents—yet studies of them are few. 2+ yrs ago, I began talking w/ birth mothers to try to understand what living in an open adoption is like for them, and what rights or options they might have if challenges were to arise.
When Adoption Promises Are Broken
Many birth mothers hope to maintain contact with their child. But their agreements with adoptive parents can be fragile.

My personal timeline is full of autistic people trying to explain that there isn't more autism than before, it's just that we're better at detecting it, and there's nothing more autistic than hoping explaining something at length will help matters when nobody is really listening.

modelling modern dating apps toward grindr really hit heterosexual dating like a comet hit the dinosaurs didnt it. why would you do this to yourselves, it's like watching a baby pick up a buzzsaw, that was a very specific tool for a very specific purpose and this feels unsafe for you

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.
