Me, chasing the GrubHub driver down the street in my socks through puddles, saving not only my family's dinner, but someone named Evan's dinner, too, as his was misdelivered to our porch and our food about to be on its way to Evan's.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Some wear very wet, very dirty socks.

I am a better person for it and grateful social media gave me a place where I could listen.

Meaningfully broadened my horizons. Early on I made a point to follow folks from different cultures, races, backgrounds, as they spoke on social issues. Taking the time to read their words daily was so eye-opening. (And I'd thought I already *had* my eyes open.) There's always, always more to learn.

Light blue graphic titled “New Bonfire Apparel”. Beneath is a subtitle that says, “Show Your Support for the Freedom to Read!” Underneath the title and subtitle are three photo frames showing new Bonfire designs available for purchase in the We Need Diverse Books Bonfire storefront. From left to right, the pieces of apparel shown are a dark navy blue crewneck sweatshirt that says, “Read Banned Books” with an illustration of small book stack at the top, a light blue cotton t-shirt that says, “Read Freely” in multi-colored lettering, and a short sleeve navy ringer tee with orange accents at the collar and shirt sleeves that says “Read Banned Books”. On the right-hand side of the graphic is a yellow starburst illustration containing the words, “On sale now!” At the bottom of the graphic is a white horizontal stripe that says “Shop now” with a right-facing arrow pointing to the URL “bit.ly/WNDB-store”, which will redirect folks to the WNDB Bonfire storefront where they can purchase these d

It's no longer National Dog Day, but maybe you'd still like a children's book from the perspective of the first prehistoric canine to befriend a human! ❤️🐺

Being different can be hard, but it can also change the world.

Happy #NationalDogDay from the story of the very first ever canine companion!

Graphic that reads, "Ever wonder where our best friends first came from? This Wolf Was Different. A picture book tale grounded in natural history. Written by Katie Slivensky and Illustrated by Hannah Salyer. Available anywhere books are sold. Published by Beach Lane Books of Simon and Schuster." A photo to the right is of the picture book THIS WOLF WAS DIFFERENT being held in front of a dog on a couch. The wolf on the cover has a close-up of her face from the eyes up. The book is held over the face of the dog so it matches the dog's face from it's nose down, completing the image. Photo credit: Jason Jong.

Peter Fonda saw Pablo Picasso paint. I know this because he told me when we were in a Thomas the Tank Engine movie together.

Yes, it’s as surreal as it sounds.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a music player for an 11-year-old that works nicely with iTunes or some other digital music service? My son will not be getting a phone for at least a couple more years.

Update:

Cheese has done it! I am (mostly) focusing!

Never doubt cheese, I guess.
kslivensky.bsky.social
My cup of coffee hasn't helped focus me up on anything but small bop-around projects this morning.

So I tried a donut. Likewise, did not help.

More coffee... nope, didn't work, either.

Now.... maybe... cheese? Is cheese the answer?
kslivensky.bsky.social
I ordered presents for my nephews birthday at the end of the month and did laundry, so yep, right there with you. 😆
kslivensky.bsky.social
Trying to tell myself the bop-arounds are important and good to get to, too, but I do have a big project I REALLY could use this time to focus up on. I just gotta get my head in gear...
