I will be honest: we are not talking nearly enough about the downstream effects of these ICE and CBP deployments.

For example: landlords and debt collectors file more aggressive collection and eviction suits with dubious (or no) factual bases, knowing that the defendants won't go to the courthouse.

First of all, I'm fascinated and terrified 😂

Also, wildlife photographers are amazing and I never imagined they'd be capturing photos of wild animals. . . in the wild. . . of my city 😂😂😂

ABOLISH LEGAL GENDER ENTIRELY

We can still have social gender but legal gender only serves to enable discrimination and should be done away with like we did away with legal race for the same reason.
NO GENDER MARKERS ON GOVERNMENT ID, NOW
An extreme Kansas bill will invalidate the drivers license of every trans person in the state. It was passed alongside a particularly extreme bathroom bill, meaning that the implications of every trans Kansan losing legal ID overnight has largely been missed.

This is one of the reasons I have argued that ending immigrant jail should be a core demand. The capacity to hold people in jails around the country makes it easier to arrest and deport. (It also kills people and holds them hostage, but I digress).

‘ICE conveyor belt’ illegally detaining, moving Minnesota children to Texas faster than courts can respond
ICE is pulling Minnesota immigrant families with legal status out of their driveways, homes and school commutes and sending them to Texas within hours — in at least two cases against a judge’s order. ...

This is why organizing that reaches for relationality is central, not secondary - it breaks the capitalist idea of us as atomized, individual consumers and compels us to act in solidarity with others. And, perhaps more than anything, it's a politics more rooted in cultivating belonging than ideology

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

There has NEVER BEEN AN IMMIGRATION PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY.

There has been a racist, nationalist fear-mongering problem in this country.

There has been an immigrant worker exploitation problem.

But there has never been an "immigration problem."

Mutual aid is abolitionist. It never, ever hinges on likeability, connection, friendship, political beliefs, nothing. You feed your neighbor because you feed every neighbor.

Anything else is not "mutual aid." We shouldn't call it that. It's capitalism.

As we always say, debt had long been used by the powerful as
1) a source of profit
2) a tool of racial domination
3) a mechanism of social control
The reason they make it so difficult to get out of student debt, out of medical debt, out of rent, out of your auto loan, out of your mortgage — is because the more you owe, the more of your income that goes to paying off debt, the more docile you are. Debt is a discipline.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.
