One of my favorite parts of a living curriculum is that it keeps living. In the 23-24 school year we did an inquiry into biomimicry. Not only do kids still reference it, but I get regular texts from the teacher who sends me links of the brilliance of ants on a Tuesday in July. Inquiry activates.

Education keeps chasing efficiency, but real learning is messy, relational, and anything but efficient. The lie of efficiency drives flawed policies and ignores what it truly takes to create meaningful change in schools. dreamsofeducation.wordpress.com/2025/01/09/t... H/T @covingtonedu.bsky.social
The Lie of Efficiency in Education
There seems to be a lie of efficiency in education. It seems like every tool, initiative, or policy introduced in education has the same aim: making education more efficient. We’ve been led t…

This is evergreen: "What really happened to small learning communities, in other words, is not that they failed, but that they drowned."
Yep. This is one of the most radicalizing pieces I ever wrote, about my own high school.

Silver-bullet, top-down Bold New Ideas are never going to work. Effective approaches are slow, make significant investments and ask teachers what they need.

For those who knew her, Jen was a friend, a mentor, a creative force, and a wonderful teacher.

Her smile lit up her entire face, and her voice had this radio star quality! I just loved listening to her speak.

Jen was someone I looked up to very much, and she will be missed. 😢
One last update about Jen.
🥺🥺🥺

Grateful that she crossed my path here on social media. May her legacy of being so positive and encouraging to others, remind us of the people we need to be on social media. She was a true blessing for us all.
