Every single "true crime" aficionado I have ever known has been female. From an objective point of view, this is a really messed up hobby. You're turning the trauma and suffering of others into your entertainment, the same way "Revenge of the Sith" (entirely fictional) is my entertainment. understand being interested in real life court cases if you want to prove someone is innocent (this is how I feel about Michael Jackson, and the more you investigate, the more you see that it was a false allegation rooted in racism), but there is a huge difference between someone who follows court cases to support the innocence of a falsely accused human being and someone who follows court cases the same way I follow entertainment news. The trauma of other human beings is not your valid entertainment. The MJ legal battles are not entertainment to me, they are a false allegation made maliciously against a black man who dared to beat the odds and succeed. With true crime, the fans are clearly in it for entertainment, not for clearing an innocent man's name. Notice how a huge chunk of true crime content has attractive, young female victims? It seems like a big part of its appeal to women is that they can see their sexual rivals be eliminated. Compare that to how men with any "nerdy" interest, be it sci-fi, gaming, or anything else is seen...as a loser nerd. I have never met a woman who found a guy attractive for being into that, but I guess YMMV. A guy who is into gaming or sci-fi, despite being judged by many if not most women, is not turning the trauma of innocent people into his vapid entertainment the way true crime "girlies" are...so what gives?

This is nothing short of horrific, a disgusting hate crime. it doesn't surprise me how humans are capable of such acts throughout our history and present. Hate is the strongest motivator I've ever seen; it's capable of reducing peoples, individuals, dreams, and lives into pools of blood and rubble.

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today.

I'm so angry.
Statement from Tristan Kern de Gonzales Husband of Jonathan Joss My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done. Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic. When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life. Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future. He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family. My focus now is on protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together. If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband. I remember seeing a video recording of this interview a few years ago, and these words have been echoing in my mind ever since. All my rage felt so justified, and it made me realize the magnitude of the social programming of women to be docile enough for exploitation, with an illusion of freedom.

In 2018, I beat up a man who sexually assaulted me in a Montreal club. Beloved @rerutled.bsky.social and I went to the bar to get me water when the manager asked me what happened. I explained. He looked at Beloved and asked "Why didn't you let your husband take care of it?" I almost beat him up too

There is a needed cultural translation due here: In Middle Eastern cultures, there is a definition of manhood that attaches it to many positive traits, like respect, courage, loyalty, etc. So sexually harassing a woman is not supposed to be manly. Of course as an Egyptian, I say fuck that shit.
