The drawing of the bear, though, is by Benjamin Dewey. When we launched AUTUMNLANDS, he did animal-portraits of the entire creative team, and we used them in the letter column.

My father's last name is Busiek, and so the whole family just kinda used it too, and he and my mom named me Kurt, so that differentiated me from the seven other Busieks in the house.

And it stuck.

Our original last name had no vowels so we chose a more pronounceable (but still Jewish) one when they let us in here. And that’s my handle because I need to be findable online for professional reasons.

Untold Tales of Spider-Man No. 6 has a clever and classic Wizard scheme that feels just Silver Age enough, but Kurt Busiek also taps the Spidey/Human Torch dynamic nicely. Throw in some soap opera as well as the fact that Pat Olliffe depicts a killer Johnny Storm.

Here and there online, I've seen the LEGEND OF WONDER WOMAN mini I did with Trina Robbins erroneously created to me and Frank Robbins.

On the one hand, I think people should be more careful in crediting stuff like that, and on the other, I want to see that mini-series.

Reading the Jack Kirby / Joe Simon version of Sandman from the 70s, and given everyone deservedly backing away from Gaiman, I'd love to see someone take a crack at revamping this version of the character.

Yes. Interestingly, Len once told me that he wasn’t plotted as German, but when he dialogued the issue it felt flat, somehow. So he rewrote Javelin with the accent, and it was just enough additional texture to make the story feel more solid.
