My favourite part about stories like these is that, we're this to happen in Canada, s. 8(2)(e) of the Currency Act means that, legally, she'd only have to accept 25¢ and the remaining 79,975 were not legally tendered.

This whole thing sucks, especially since they had so many chances to get it right -- they could have put down your name, or *any* of your handles, and didn't do any of that smh

These are arguments for breaking the law that would be widely recognized as psychotic if offered in any other context. But when we're drivers, we just feel entitled. I *wanna* go fast, so fuck you, fuck safety, fuck society.

Cars make us terrible people.

...actually make money like this, because the value of the silver will fluctuate, necessitating re-casting the coins to reflect their updated value.

I'm now imagining this guy getting crushed by a truckload of silver coins being dumped on him all at once. 2/2

If memory serves, "specie" refers to coin whose value is derived from the metal it's made of rather than a central bank or government backing it. $1 in silver specie would have to be a coin made of $1-worth of silver. Unless your currency is on the silver standard, it's kind of impossible to 1/2
