Political violence is evil, killing people is evil, a country with more guns in it than people is broken, and what the government is saying about political violence right now being a primarily leftwing phenomenon is factually, statistically untrue. They are using this moment to rewrite history.

This narrative that ICE has "backed off" Chicago persists despite a flood of bystander video and reports showing an unprecedented and growing wave of masked terrorists violently kidnapping Illinoisians off the streets in Chicago.

I can only assume our media ecosystem is to blame for this.

Let's say it again:

1) Harvard said "No," and Trump has backed off.

2) Chicago (and Illinois) said "No," and Trump has backed off.

It's day by day. But those who said "OK, sure," have gained nothing at all. Except shame.

(CNN) - President Donald Trump shelved his plans to target Chicago as the next city for his domestic crime push after advisers warned him that sending in troops .. could create legal headaches they want to avoid, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

I'm stoked. Sean's shown up to meetings for everything in recent years, even dubbing, which I'm fairly certain covers contracts he's never personally worked. Couldn't ask for a president to be more involved. Merging the pension/retirement funds is a a big priority for him, too. Highest of hopes!

CODA believes the best way to improve the standing of voice actors in our industry is to push for positive change from within. These six voice actors are running for office in SAG-AFTRA and we encourage you to include them in your voting selections.
Marin M. Miller
#016 LA Local Board
#076 National Board
#125 Convention Delegate

"I have fought for better transparency and wages with the grassroots performers advocacy group I co-founded. Our efforts have resulted in the founding of the dubbing steering committee at SAG-AFTRA and thousands of Union jobs. Voice actors struggle to have their voices represented in SAG-AFTRA because we have no elected representatives.

Help us change that!"

SAG-AFTRA Linsay Rousseau
#028 LA Local Board
#150 Convention Delegate

"I know firsthand that one size doesn't fit all. I've served on the interactive negotiating committee and LA Local Committees, always putting members first.

The video game negotiations proved what's possible when we stand strong together.

I don't represent one category-
I represent all of us. I'm running because OUR Union deserves leadership that listens, shows up, and never quits."

Vote by September 12!!

SAG-AFTRA Scott Lambright

#107 Convention Delegate

"Listening to concerns from members helps shape my views. I've held the line through the recently settled IMA strike and the TV and Theatrical strike.

On the picket line, I learned so much from colleagues, friends, and supporters who I'm lucky to call allies in these trying times. I've served on an organizing committee and fought the good fight, so let me bring your voice to leadership!"

If you've felt like voice actors don't have enough of a voice (pun intended) in SAG-AFTRA, this is a great way to change that.

I'm casting my vote for people I know care about the future of our industry!

...than you do at a decently sized fan-run con that's excited about having you there. At some point, we reach terminal velocity, where it's not worth accepting worse accommodations.

But we're living at the near-end of late stage capitalism, so I'll admit I'm not terribly optimistic :/
kylemccarley.com
My foolish hope is that some old school cons are able to survive with a more equitable model, and that guests recognize that at a certain point, the size of the con doesn't matter, because you don't necessarily sell more stuff at the giant comic-con that treats you like they're doing you a favor...
kylemccarley.com
But it also means fewer guest appearances are offered to newer actors, actors with less "relevant" credits, or anyone who dares ask for anything more than the bare minimum. Which, as Sean describes in his thread, is further evolving to be even barer. No surprise there either, but it's hard to watch.
kylemccarley.com
Another double-edged sword factor from this shift: guests that used to be more expensive for a con to bring out are now relatively the same cost as any other, since they make their money at the table and the con doesn't have to pay them. More chances for fans to meet popular actors is great!
