@beaubaumann.bsky.social hi! I read your LPE piece and agree with most. Except the NC example. EPAs largest labs are located in NC and OH and did employ thousands of people. Other locations include Ada, OK, Corvallis Oregon, Duluth MN, Gulf Breeze FL. Anyway, your points are mostly good.

As an “EPA” DRP2.0 taker, this is funny, but it’s a little too accurate!

I am typically a very quiet and introverted person. Except when I’m working and for some reason when I travel. I have made so many new friends on trips. This one is no exception!

We need much more research into health effects, but also…..solutions for plastic in general. We need something more sustainable.
Experiments show that when bees are exposed to microplastic pollution, their memory gets so muddled they may forget the scents associated with sugary rewards.

As a result, pollination may fail — which is bad news for flowers and crops.
Microplastics may confuse bees and other insects, hurting pollination
Recent studies have shown that tiny pieces of plastics can make bees more susceptible to bacteria and viruses.

I love Allende. Ive read many of her books. Can’t wait to read one in Spanish (not fluent enough yet) but you should listen to this and hear what she says about the Chilean coup and when she realized it was time to leave podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

I think the brain drain is going to cause long-term problems. If we can’t get the best and brightest to come to school here or work here - somewhere else is going to benefit greatly. The long-term damage is being done now.

Of course Fetterman voted the way he voted. Just a reminder he ran as a progressive.

I survived another week….lets see what this week brings.

Shoutout to all the amazing health & science communicators at HHS. Y’all deserved better-The public will really miss the work you put in communicating what they needed to know about their health-This is a grave mistake that will harm people.

This is wild. We don’t know enough about what COVID did to us. But yeah it want real, just a cold. Tell that to my immune system.
HHS's Office of Long COVID Research and Practice has been DOGEd. Closing this week.

One thing about Blue Sky is the over familiarity cause who do yall think you talking to around here? You got me fucked up if you think I'm going to be grateful that John Roberts stiffened his back up after he turned the Supreme Court into the HALL OF LOSERS

Anyone in Europe or South America need an expert in science, health, risk & crisis communication? I also teach at the university level. But I’m going go be unemployed from my day job soon. 😢 I need to work somewhere where science is appreciated!

And every protection is being gutted for the sake of corporate profit. Forgetting that the mission is to protect public health & the environment.
Just thinking about what the US looked like before the EPA existed

Get Fetterman out of there. He ran as a Bernie progressive! That’s what he was elected for! And he’s turned into MAGA. Just crazy. I can’t believe I got my PA family to vote for him! So disappointed. Someone primary him too. He’s got to go.
