And here it is.

Starmer's post-press-conference statement manages to be even more cowardly than his initial response.

Vague call for international law to be respected. Ignores that it has *already been violated* this morning. No mention of US.

Spain's PM Pedro Sanchez is 1st European leader to make a stronger statement following Trump's press conference where he said the US will run Venezuela and take its oil.

Sanchez has been ostracised by other 🇪🇺 leaders for his past criticism of Trump. Will they listen to him now?

We have been bringing the festive cheer to our friends at Natural England and the NFU in London recently – highlighting the continued badger cull.

240,000 badgers dead and nothing to show for it. It must end.

Our future food system will be very different. By design or by disaster. Much of the choice is ours

If we get it right, everyone wins. Healthier diets and communities, more nature, higher productivity, stable(r) climate, etc...

My write up on the @nebriefing.bsky.social here, please consider signing the letter calling on Kier Starmer and media heads to televise a briefing to the country:

What we told UK leaders about climate and nature at a national emergency briefing
With so many influential people in the room, the hope was to see a tipping point in the engagement of political, faith, business and cultural leaders.

So we have to conclude that sheep farming is a public subsidy-driven industry, not a market-driven industry, thus not subject to the whims of consumers?. And they have to be paid to do the "right thing" 🤔 because they don't care about destroying nature, as long as they have their subsidy? 🤔
Pay farmers NOT to have sheep, and many would jump at the chance to do the right thing.

But farming is their livelihood, so it won't happen otherwise.

*Society* has to do the right thing by nature, and give farmers the option of letting it come back, instead of killing it off.

Hen Harrier found poisoned on a grouse moor in North Yorkshire.

Once again, details have only come to light through scrutiny of a spreadsheet - where's the publicity from the Police? This is supposed to be a national wildlife crime priority!

This excellent blog has reminded me of one of the famous quotes by F. Bastiat: "When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it".

To add to @jandutkiewicz.bsky.social's commentary, while Tyson agreed to halt its "climate friendly beef" in the suit settlement, there is still an open door: an expert would have to be agreed upon by all parties to allow "climate-friendly beef" or any similar climate-branded product to go to market
