Holy shit. So Elon decides it would be nice to know what region of the world people are posting from. So they add that little feature.
2 hours later they figure out that many Trump supporters with millions of followers are posting from other countries. Surprise!
That "feature" is now gone.

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Asked a question by Kuenssberg about whether her proposals on refugees would mean refugee families being broken up, Shabana Mahmood immediately started talking about illegal migration. Eventually, she’s admitted that yes, Labour’s policy will break up settled families. Vile.

I do hope those sensibles telling me that Labour's new policy was fair and sensible are enjoying Tommy Robinson's endorsement of it this morning.

That's who you've joined.

Tommy Robinson.

I don't believe in the Great Man theory of history. Meaningful change comes from the actions of many.

I *do* believe in the Great Doofus theory of history, because it only takes one jerkass to ruin a LOT of things.

Usually a jerkass who thinks they're a Great Man.

Something bad happens to people when they become the Home Secretary.

Theresa May, Amber Rudd, and now Shabana Mahmood have all been come extremist lunatics after a period in the job.
Shabana Mahmood has vowed to end Britain’s “golden ticket” for asylum seekers by forcing people arriving illegally to wait 20 years before they can apply for permanent settlement

When the U.K. Labour Party made the election manifesto promise that “no working person will pay more tax” I knew it was a stupid promise. And I predicted there would come a time when the definition of “working person” would need to be tortured in order to assert that the promise is upheld.

Let see…

...because organisations aren't bundles of individuals, but systems. And as @jasongorman.bsky.social points out, if you add a "fire-hose to your plumbing", and your plumbing has lots of bottlenecks, it might not go all that well.

Booked a gas engineer to fix a problem with my boiler.

The initial appointment is from 07:00 to 18:00 today.

The day before they tell me that they’ve narrowed the appointment time to 10:45-13:45.

The engineer turns up at 09:00 when I’m out and is grumpy that I’m not there.

What is it with people who watch programmes on TV or streaming media and see an actor and say “Hey! That’s the guy/woman from <some other programme>!”

Yes, they’re actors. They act in different things. It’s what they do. Why are you surprised by this?
