All one needs to do is look at how their profits have gone up and up and up. But yeah, self checkout is a real self-own in this regard. I'm sure they still come out ahead with decreased labour costs.

If grocery barons weren't obviously raising prices drastically higher than costs I wouldn't feel so justified getting free jalapenos.

Oh it's EXTREMELY shady. It's how Republicans stay in power, because they're actually wildly unpopular in a lot of places. Texas is not as red a state as people think, but they've done this shit for so long there's no way to get them out of power. :\

We sort of do deal with this kind of thing in that TO doesn't vote for Doug but everyone else does. So we get Doug. Imagine if they made every Toronto riding a tiny sliver that became the top of a funnel when it got North of the 401 and you get every riding going PC. That's sort of how this works.

So if you do this is means that you guarantee there are no Democrats representing this state, either state or federal level. Because the Dem vote has been split up. If you had 60% D votes now you have 30% across two districts. (Fakey numbers simplified.)

Like, are you asking what is a congressional district? It determines who goes to Washington as a house rep or senator. Might also be a state legislature map, not sure, but that also means number of reps in state congres & could determine Governor (think that depends on the state).

So, they figure out where a cluster of Democrat votes are and they change the district boundaries to put that area into a district that votes overwhelmingly Republican.
