An interesting feature of this is that Weiss seems to think the primary goal is "winning back" Americans who don't trust the news, which extends beyond truth-telling into a political project. Furthermore we know she wants to "win back" a very specific demographic: right-wingers.

I agree. Making Private Equity illegal might be difficult, but if we can't do that, regulate the hell out of them so they can't buy companies and screw employees, so they can't buy residential real estate and jack up rent and let it deteriorate, etc. Time to change the rules to their game.
