🚨 Today Al Pinkerton will introduce a 10-minute bill that calls for a UK-EU customs union.

It's time for Labour MP's to back our bill and help turbocharge our economy.

Unfortunately I am not reelected in the FIRC. I had a great 3 years to be in the committee and met a great team of colleagues to work on international policies.

Even I am not elected, that’s not the end of the road. I will carry on my international work through other positions!

The imminent approval of the super Chinese Embassy will be a moment of shame for this Government.

#Libdems calls on the Prime Minister to
- Listen to communities
- Strengthen Democracy Resilience by not facilitating #China's spy efforts
- No to transnational repression

Therefore, ⛔Stop the Embassy

Time to reflect on my 1st LI Exec Comm.

One of the most valuable lessons I learnt from it is how we should interact with sister parties, achievements and mistakes alike.

Here’s my article on my reflections. I will write another one within a week.

Mutual Benefit for learning from each other: My thoughts on the success of our sister parties, and the Liberal International Executive Committee 2025
You know, the Dutch, they are so liberal, they’ve got two liberal parties… And one of them, the one that’s most like us, D66, were the smaller party in a coalition, and then in 2006 they got stuffed. ...

Even though the result of #FIRC has not been announced, the international work must be carrying on.

Finally, the government confirmed that HKers with a BNO passport will still qualify for settlement after 5 years. Our MPs and Lords fought very hard on it behind the scene. What I could say is: Thank you. #BNO #LibDems
BREAKING ‼️
The Govt has just confirmed that Hong Kongers with a BNO passport will still qualify for settlement after 5 years.
I know how much this will mean to so many people - and will be received with a huge sigh of relief.
Proud that our campaign has paid off and the Govt has listened to us!

This is well thought through article. Our foreign affairs spokesperson @calummillerld.bsky.social has a great insight on how the UK should position ourselves in the multi-polar global order and why we should establish a closer ties with the EU. #LibDems #GlobalOrder
On trade with China & malign assertions / influence, Calum Miller MP writes, "...(Making sure Beijing is aware they) are not acceptable and have consequences. We should be willing to hold back cooperation in trade and investment unless Beijing moderates its actions"

Government must take action on MI5's second security warning on China's meddling with UK democracy:
- Place China onto the enhanced tier of FIRS
- Allow our elected representatives to scrutinise the China Audit and learn the complexity of the UK-China relationship, Britain’s interests and position.

We're pushing the government to place #China onto FIRS enhance tier. Recognise the strategic leadership Xi asserts for what it is.

Weak from Lammy. The China Audit isn't available for parliamentarians to scrutinise if gov had set the best course of action.

Congratulations to Chloe. A strong award for a determined campaigner.

It's a solid message to politicians that we must stand with pro-democracy campaigners, protect them with a hotline to file reports of harassments and intimidations and put human rights before any trade deals.

In the last term, HK's "patriots-only" parliament, 130 bills were passed and the only ONE rejected was LGBT rights. Yet, 60% in the city agree with same sex marriage.

LibDems must stand firm on furthering LGBT+ rights, setting a firm example for human rights.

We need to ensure no one in Britain will be too afraid to speak up for democracy. There must be no fear of extradition to China.
