Greta Thunberg's story is entirely consistent with the four Australians reported by @deepcutnews.bsky.social.

If the IDF inflicts such deliberate cruelty and degradation on briefly detained foreign nationals, no wonder we are getting such horrifying accounts from recently released Palestinians.

Collins: Marjorie Taylor Greene—is she someone that you could see yourself working with?

AOC: On what? If she actually wants to support legislation and expanding healthcare… I'm more than open to doing that. But it's not just about talking the talk. We got to walk the walk.

“People talk about trying to change society,” a young Bob Dylan said, in 1964. “All I know is that so long as people stay so concerned about protecting their status and protecting what they have, ain’t nothing going to be done.”

As authoritarian rulers gain ground, “a question from the 20th century has resurfaced in the 21st, one that presses on individuals as well as institutions,” Jonathan Freedland writes in a guest essay. “Put simply, who bends the knee to tyranny and who stands up to it?”

It is anguishing to see young adults like this gleefully pursuing political power. It is no longer a secret where the GOPs inspiration comes from... and in the U.S., sad!

Scores of journalists with access to the Pentagon handed in their press passes on Wednesday rather than sign on to new rules that sharply restrict access and raise the prospect of punishment for simply requesting information on matters of public interest. Here is what the new rules say.

I am sounding the alarm that the GOP is engaged in an all out attack voting rights and free and fair elections. Voter suppression, gerrymandering, and troops in blue cities are just some of the ways they are using to try to rig the rules to keep power in 2026 and beyond.

Pay attention and act!

Another reason to regard monetary policy with great disdain: the 'long and variable lags'.
Folks are begging for cuts to interest rates tomorrow, but changes take 12 - 18 months to flow through. The damage was done two years ago when the ghouls were advising 'higher for longer'.

It is actuarial science... the quantification of risk using mathematical, statistical, and financial theories. The more people drop off, the less people remain under the Umbrella, driving the cost up for the remaining insured. Why the ACA benefited everyone.
Murray: I talked to a family that’s paying about $300 a month for their health insurance. It’s going to jump to over $1,800 per month.

Many people will turn away and not pay for it—obviously, they’ll lose their health insurance. The fewer people who have insurance, the more everybody pays.

Turning the military on citizens.

Attempting to rig elections.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

Attacking political enemies and punishing those who speak out.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?
