Another academic job market is upon us. I'm happy to chat with anyone about having kids on the TT — the good, bad, and ugly. (If you don't want to talk, my main advice is: don't wait, don't hide it, but also don't assume you'll be accommodated.)

I'm fine with this and am confused about why people are upset. A PhD program that requires students to borrow in excess of 20k annually sounds predatory and not worth anyone's time.
