or why a health insurance CEO with the blood of thousands and thousands of people on his hands is a victim while the man who allegedly shot him is a criminal
to my mind the woman who dies of sepsis because of antiabortion laws, or the person who dies because they can't afford insulin -- these are just as much victims of political violence as the man shot through the throat while making a racist speech

I grew up listening to and singing #TomLehrer -- my dad (who kinda looks like Tom Lehrer) is a pianist with a quiet wry sense of humor and I was a loud theater/choir kid. TL was where we met in the middle.

The clerks where I get my lunch said a man came in last week and asked them where the public entrance to 26 Federal Plaza was. He locked his bike outside, and it’s been there since.

Thanks to the Hind Rajab Foundation, 2 Israeli soldiers accused of war crimes were arrested by Belgian authorities while at the Tomorrowland Festival and interrogated. A criminal investigation is underway.
Belgium is fulfilling duty to international law.

I was never a regular but I still have so many memories. The Oloffson is where I was drinking a ji grenadya when I heard Duvalier was back in Haiti. It's where I earned the worst hangover of my life. It's where I met countless friends and heard countless stories.
This is shattering. The Oloffson wasn't just a hotel. Not even just a landmark or historic site. It was a spiritual home for thousands of people over the years, Haitian and foreigner, including me.
Hotel Oloffson is gone. The iconic Port-au-Prince gingerbread was set alight and burned to ash last night. #Haiti
