Never trust someone who says there is only 1 way to do something: life is never that simple.
Proudly not normal, be an outlier.
I'm reading Rise of Endymion and I find many parallels with the current state of my country. I wish I could convince my family & friends to read it, but unfortunately they would never consider that science fiction might provide useful insights or serve as a cautionary tale.

I am very concerned that anyone who has read the Declaration of Independence can believe in a unitary executive.

RFK Jr's Make America Healthy plan was apparently a lie to hide the destruction of most of the government's programs focusing on trying to help Americans live healthier & longer lives. I hate what this country has become.

I work(ed?) for CDC. 2 of my coworkers got RIF emails at 9:30 tonight. I expect I have one but I'm not checking my email tonight.
I loved the agency, most of the people and the work we did. I hate what this administration has done to CDC and the people who work(ed) there.

The irony of the people who have worked hard to undermine the public's trust in vaccinations talking about changes to the vaccine schedule needed to address those concerns. #ACIP #CDC

Hello dear internet. I never do this but I have a favour to ask.

We've (www.rampur.is) built almost 2000 ramps so far with more coming globally.

I hear @kentremendous.bsky.social is on here. And I'd love to let the Parks team know the name comes from them

Please like and repost so he'll see this.

I have heard second hand that Elon's team is at CDC telling Title 42 staff that they don't have a job after Friday. Can anyone verify whether this is true?

From midnight tonight until next Saturday morning, there's no TV, no Internet, no Social Media, no nothing for me.

Symbolic protest is better than none at all.

I started 2025 in the hospital with pancreatitis and other diagnoses. I am never sick, but being a full time caregiver in addition to working full time was more than my body could handle.
This was a good thing: I am forced to make major changes to my life to put myself & my health first.

CHERRY PICKED DATA ALERT
From 1890 to 1940, the average age of first marriage for women was 21.5 to 22. (It slightly declined over that 50 years).
In 1950, it dropped more than a year to 20.3. And didn’t recover to above 21.5 until 1980 (when it was 22).

I just went to a store run by one of the major package delivery companies to get a document notarized. They wanted me to sign an arbitration agreement that included any claims against the "store and its associated entities". Is this a normal requirement for notary service?

Has the incoming administration made plans for dealing the population losses (deaths) that may result from some of the new policies being discussed?

Left my back yard to go wild for a couple of years and was delighted to find Maypops growing in it. Does anyone know if they taste good?

I'm late to the game but I just read The Calculating Stars and can't wait to read all of the series. There's a lot to think about and it seems like a very good series to start this year.
