one thing that always stuck with me from minotaur's slashfic advice page (iykyk) was how much vintage gay porn focused on kissing and general physical intimacy... you were never going to see it anywhere else
vintage porn is basically the hieroglyphics of modern gay culture. lots of history that would probably be lost if it hadn't been attached to smut (movies, magazines, photos you name it). part of why it irks me so much when ppl get prudish about pride, sex scenes, etc. it's like baby that's culture!
