On November 18 2024, The Tribune ran an unusual property for its “Home of the Week” section.

Containing 28 bedrooms, and just one bathroom, the Carmelite monastery in High Bradfield was going on the market.

In December, it was eventually bought by Distinfields Properties Limited for £2.75 million.

Sheffield has an astonishing 249 ‘Friends of’ groups, looking after parks big and small across the city, far more than anywhere else in the country.

If the number can be considered a measure of a city’s collective bonhomie, then it suggests Sheffield could well be England’s friendliest city.

Drug wars, the wrong man being shot, escapes to Dubai... the crazy thing about this story is it's actually true. As @danhayesjourno.bsky.social filled me in on his chats with police and trips to court my jaw hit the floor.

Don't miss his incredible piece on one of SYP's biggest investigations:
“Let’s hope their investigation is shit then you can come home,” wrote Paris Askew to her boyfriend Ethan Hallows on 17 December 2023, four days after Kevin Pokuta had died.

“They picked the wrong team," says DS Lindsay Harding.

This is the story of how South Yorkshire Police cracked a conspiracy.
