A 2025 review in the Lancet (www.thelancet.com/journals/lan... shows that our current spending on new medicines skews overall health spend away from more effective interventions. But it looks like we are about to spend more on meds, thus depriving our population of more effective healthcare.

Great early morning session at #UKASCC conference. Particularly liked the description of a Supportive Oncology service in USA (Declan Walsh) but also how much effort (including fundraising) has to be made to keep services running - lessons to be learned for UK in trying to improve care

A graph showing the number of people aged 65 and over per 100 people from around 1950 to present with projections to 2065. The ratio is flat between 1970 and 2010 ish and then starts to increase. The projection is for the ratio to roughly double by 2065.
