So very tired, but I couldn't let 2025 end without taking stock of Microsoft's embarrassing treatment of gaming, Windows, and indeed human beings while it chases the AI money train
Microsoft's year of shame
Can't make a few trillion dollars without ditching game developers, going googoo gaga for AI and supplying tech to the military, I suppose!

No, because I wouldn't be speaking to my dead grandmother, but some ghoulish, phony approximation of her (that would doubtless charge me to continue the conversation)

these past few days I've been thinking a lot about what makes the world of hollow knight work so well, and I think it's because it's got an enormous amount of *character*

it's very, flavorful, created with a clear direction in mind, and executed so holistically across art/vfx/design/sfx/VO/music

Bizarre and wildly unhelpful that this summary is what comes up when you Google 'Outer Wilds reviews'. A scathing snippet from an extremely unrepresentative user review (the user average is even higher than the critical average) that doesn't even have the excuse of recency (it's from February 2022)

One thing I been working on this year is to put proper value on myself and my time/investment into things. It’s easy to say yes to everything but I’ve certainly felt taken for granted too many times. So do a bit less but overall feel more accomplished and appreciated.

The funniest things I saw in movies as a 90s kid:

- Daniel Stern briefly becoming a skeleton whilst being horribly electrocuted in Home Alone 2.
- Dave Chapelle in Nutty Professor "women be shoppaaaaiiiiiiin"
- hey the line "it's only an eternity of servitude, this is LOVE" at the end of Aladdin

Rolled credits on Keeper! Absolutely jaw droppingly beautiful, endearing, serene, and exhilarating all in one. Has echos of Journey and Ueda games.

Play it on the biggest screen with the most earth shattering speakers you have.

Congrats @leepetty.bsky.social and the @doublefine.com team! 💡🦜

Steam Next Fest has TWO Blumhouse Games titles to try. Crisol: Theater of Idols and SLEEP AWAKE. You can play both right now.
Blumhouse does games? Yes, we do.
Try them during #SteamNextFest.

🩸 Crisol: Theater of Idols - for fans of RE: Village, BioShock & Prey. On the cursed island of Tormentosa, your blood is your weapon. Headshots? will barely help.

Absolum should be an instant addition to any best co-op games list. A fantasy beat 'em up is such a great fit for a roguelite. Its magic powers, trinkets & new moves offer so much depth + variety, and sidequests keep its map fresh on repeat runs. A steal at £20!
