My husband buys us a new calendar every year. This year, he picked one with quotes and calligraphy by Thich Nhat Hanh.

May we all find peace, joy, & kindness this year. 🙏
When fighting fascism, sometimes incompetence is the hero. LOL

The real heroes are the folks who recorded the segment and continue to share it worldwide, imo. And the reporters at 60 minutes, of course.

May the men who were illegally detained find justice.

I am infinitely grateful that my friend will let me play the Jazz Christmas or the Cozy Celtic Christmas music stations at the yarn shop. I might go a bit mad if I had to listen to the supermarket Christmas music for 8 hours straight. Today & tomorrow, work, then off for five days. Woot!

Yessssss
Man, I'm done with the days getting shorter! I am talking to MANAGEMENT. I will GET RESULTS. If the days get longer here on out, you'll know who to thank.

Happy Winter Solstice, everyone. May the light find you wherever you are.

Good Morning and Happy Solstice.
Happy Sunday. Never give up against the monsters. And always save the cat.

Socks for my brother for Christmas are done! This hand dyed yarn has been in my stash for a while & needed to be knitted. Unfortunately, I lost at yarn chicken on the 2nd sock but found a blue sock yarn in my stash to finish. Then I ripped the toe back on the 1st stock & re-knit it to match.

I almost forgot to post a pic of our walk this morning. It was a cold one but at least the rain has stopped. For now.

Uggi tested and approved!
GIVE AWAY! // AKA WE DID IT AGAIN!

Since The Night Guest is coming out in paperback we decided to try to gift another copy bitten by Uggi. And it went … a little *too* well. (See picture 🧵)

Like and share this post and on December 30th I will select a winner and send them this teeth marked copy!

It’s not easy to access documents that governments would prefer to keep out of the public eye. But reporters at The Narwhal love a challenge — and filed 218 freedom of information requests this year.

This morning's walk was pretty in a dark, grey, damp way, but I will be happy when the light returns.

One positive side effect of all the rain we have had lately are wee discoveries like this on our morning walk. 🌧💚

We really should have snow by now, but here we are.
At least we aren't on flood alert like the Fraser Valley.
And Mitra doesn't seem to mind.

True joy recognizes and acknowledges pain, tears, sadness, and every other emotion that exists within the spectrum of human experience. It is about discovering and finding balance, equilibrium, and a sense of steadiness even in the midst of difficult, trying, and turbulent times.

Yesterday was my 60th birthday! I have entered my mostly tea drinking, occasional cheap drunk era.
If anyone wants to get drunk quickly and inexpensively I highly recommend being quite old.

The snow didn't last. The rain has returned. Mitra and I are still walking in the woods.

My favourite grasshopper fact: Grasshoppers first appeared on the planet 250 million years ago.

Grass did not appear on the planet until 40 million years ago

Imagine it: 210 million years, hopping around on any random surface you can find, waiting for the grass that will make you truly yourself.

🧶My brother and sister in law are coming for Christmas! So I've decided a knitted skinny scarf would be just the thing for her.
Pattern: Riptide Scarfette
Designer: Jennifer Shiels Toland
Yarn: Sandnes Garn 100% Cashmere fingering weight.
This was a fun knit, and the yarn is divine.

35 years ago today, 14 women went to bed thinking about their finals, future in STEM and the upcoming holiday season. They didn’t know that these dreams threatened a man’s sense of self worth and that they wouldn’t survive to see their goals and aspirations become a reality
