Modern recipes: To make this cake, you must use exactly 253g of cake flour made from wheat harvested under the full moon, and 2.5 eggs that are at 21 degrees C.
Grandma’s recipe that is perfect every time: Throw 10 heaping spoonfuls of flour and sugar in there. It’s fine. 🎂🍰

My first time making this cake based on my grandma’s: walnut sponge with cherries and walnut buttercream. (Cherries standing in for meggy/ tart cherries.)

Who doesn’t love a leggy redhead? 😆 Photos taken two weeks apart. She’s a Home Depot plant who didn’t want to quit last year so I kept her around to see how she does #poinsettia #bloomscrolling

The book is a deep dive into the science of how individuals can catalyze change. It uncovers some fascinating truths, the most vital of which is this:

Lack of worry isn't what's holding back climate action. It's lack of efficacy. Most are worried - but don't know what to do.

Hence my pinned post!
I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love.

Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below!

We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

My proudest moment from feeding a dozen people for Thanksgiving today is when my 2-year-old niece tried some of my turkey and then went back for seconds so hard that she put a fistful of turkey straight into her maw.

This is an excellent essay.
“We live in an era where personal expression is saturated by digital filters, hivemind thinking is promoted through endless algorithms and academic freedom itself is under assault by the weakest minds among us. AI has only made this worse. It is a crisis.”

In honor of Larry Summers, I asked the female members of my college class (1987) to say if they had any experiences with sexual harassment by teachers/professors, back when this was tolerated as, I dunno, the cost of attending college, and OH MY GOD.

A parenting line I’ve been using a lot with my 9 and 5 year old lately is “If you hurt someone, even by accident, you have to say I’m sorry.” Too bad many adults haven’t seemed to internalize this elementary lesson.

For the first time in EU history, someone faces criminal charges for organising a Pride march.
Géza Buzás-Hábel, a teacher and organiser of Pécs Pride in Hungary, could be jailed for up to a year, simply for leading a peaceful march for equality. 🧵

The people doing the actual demolition need to be arrested and charged with destruction of a national historic landmark.

There is no way there is legitimate documents authorizing and they KNOW one person can’t authorize this.

Following orders is no defense, they KNOW it’s wrong.

You know what would be even better, what if I put a re-usable glue on the back on these $100 notecards so they could stick to the wall or other pieces of paper without damaging them!
