"I wish you wouldn't just use the blanket term 'AI' when you mean LLMs"

OK, well I wish people who were trying to get away with using a single buzzword for their technology would have the language to better explain what the use case is and what they're actually doing instead of making that my job.

I would be tempted to adapt a Discworld book, _Going Postal_, but there's no way I could do it justice
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

It recently occurred to me that the "everything as a service" business model has, in conjunction with many of those services becoming essential to modern life & the long-running failure of antitrust policy, transmuted those payments into effectively taxes.

Even if you don't want to pay, you have to

I think it's worth bringing up again that the fact Trump's holiday messages are always Like This is evidence that people not liking him is pretty much the only thing Trump _ever_ thinks about. What a sad existence.
Trump: “Merry Christmas to all, including the many Sleazebags who loved Epstein, gave him bundles of money, went to his Island, attended his parties, & thought he was the greatest guy on earth, only to ‘drop him like a dog’ when things got too HOT … Enjoy what may be your last Merry Christmas!”

this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

I think the phrase "Kavanaugh Stop" has both reached and bothered the Justice
Also, Justice Kavanaugh sounds like he really, really wants a second try at his decision authorizing Kavanaugh Stops.

He's now insisting that immigration enforcement should not be like EXACTLY WHAT IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT IS LIKE UNDER TRUMP'S THUGGERY.

i maintain the best approach for a mainstream 40k thing would be to do a Caiaphas Cain story. Not a direct adaptation, but a story with him, probably one of the ones where he's fucking around with space marines.

internal narration as a vehicle for jokes would go a huge way to ease people into it
If I have one end of year prediction to make it's that Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40'000 tv show probably isn't going to happen folks. Sorry.

Now would be a great time for a 10 episode, 20 hour prestige series about the ten years between 1916 and 1926, covering the establishment of the 8-hr work day & 5-day work week, in the US. Each episode would be one year & the middle episode should be entirely devoted to the Battle of Blair Mountain.

Here we go!

First, a little background. American football was invented in 1869, and evolved from the existing sports of soccer and rugby.

🧵
At some point today I'm gonna do a thread on when American Football (a sport that is more than 150 years old) instituted some of the same safety rules that exist in modern roller derby (a sport that is only 25 years old).

Partly because I find it fascinating, and partly because holy shit
