The UK is not wildly more transphobic than other places. I’ve been there multiple times as a trans woman; I get stink-eyed slightly more on the street in London than I do in NYC, but that’s about it.
The difference is that transphobia is a bipartisan issue in the UK, and it’s not really in the US.
