Our negative assumptions about people with Down syndrome can lead us to treat them in such a way that these assumptions become reality. In sociology, this is called a ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’. Why not reverse our perspectives? If we have positive assumptions about people with Down syndrome, we'll give them more opportunities in their schools, workplaces, relationships and activities. I introduced my son to 'Sea Sheep' today. Perhaps they're new to you too. Known for their lovable sheep-like appearance, these tiny sea slugs graze on leaves, but also supplement their diet through the power of the sun. They're also incredibly cute!

🕊️ 76 years ago the United Nations adopted the Genocide Convention - a treaty adopted in the aftermath of the horrors of the Holocaust to ensure such mass atrocities never happened again. Tragically, this has not been the reality, as we have seen around the world & now in Gaza.
