“Nearly everyone I asked said that they had noticed the increased presence of settlers in Tel Aviv but seemed not to understand when they moved to the city, or why.”

@lisang.bsky.social reports on the West Bank settlers arriving in Tel Aviv.

I was surprised during a recent reporting trip to see West Bank settlers living in Tel Aviv. What were they doing in this bastion of liberal secularism? The answer speaks to the triumphalism of the ascendant far right, which has penetrated every level of Israeli society.

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

Gisha is doing heroic work on behalf of people in Gaza. Over the past 2 years the NGO's tireless employees have reunited Palestinian families, accessed food and medical help, and much more. Their needs are critical. Please contribute to their fundraiser. my.israelgives.org/en/members/2...

Grossly irresponsible of the Times to have this ludicrous credulous spin as the top story the morning after a president who rules by fiat proclaims a totally specious emergency to militarize the capital - an editorial insult to our intelligence and our democracy.

People who criticize the effectiveness of sanctions don't really understand how they work. This is an informative and insightful piece by a former State Dept attorney who was involved in the Biden administration's sanctions of Israeli settlers. newlinesmag.com/argument/the...

More than 600 retired leaders in Israel's intelligence community signed an open letter to President Trump, asking him to force Netanyahu to stop the war in Gaza. The letter was big news internationally but barely registered in Israel. Sharp analysis by Ori Goldberg. newlinesmag.com/argument/the...

After many, many months of total denial across the socio-political spectrum, over the past week or so there have been some cracks in the Israeli-Jewish discourse. I asked brilliant Ori Goldberg to write about this for @newlinesmag.bsky.social newlinesmag.com/argument/isr...
Israeli Liberals Grapple With the G-Word

The Israeli army routinely intentionally kills paramedics and others involved in rescue efforts. This is called "double tap." Assad and his Russian allies used it in Aleppo to kill the White Helmets. www.972mag.com/double-tap-i...

Good morning! I'm in Uganda to visit family and friends.

But depending on your perspective, don't worry or I'm sorry: I'll be back by the end of the month.

See you soon, NYC.
