Got talking literature with a solicitor on the phone at work and he said 'You're not one of those people who says they've read Finnegans Wake, are you?'
It's been an appalling last couple of months. I've spent too much time moping and too much time on social media. Planning to get it all out of my system over the remaining 50-odd hours of the year, then spend 2026 in perpetual craft status.

This was a perfectly cosy way to see out a weekend
Delighted to welcome Anna Fitzgerald to Liverpool for @liverpooluni.bsky.social LitFest to mark her award of the John McGahern Book Prize.
Thoroughly enjoyed her impactful reading from her debut "Girl in the Making" and discussion with @irishinstitute.bsky.social's Prof Frank Shovlin.

Today I bought replacement bronzer, and then I got home and realised it was a tester, and five minutes later my existing bronzer fell out of the medicine cabinet with the rest of my make up and smashed in the sink. The fates can take my artificial sun-kissed look from my cold, bronzed, dead hands.

They will never attribute autism to something that Dads do. Or some shortfall in public services or environmental standards.

They will wonder aloud with no evidence or bad evidence, blaming stuff they already dislike, and somehow always manage to stay in their "mum's fault" lane.

Once I finished making my blanket, I baked a cake for a friend's birthday lunch. While there, I picked apples from their garden. The apples are in the slow cooker now, getting turned into chutney. Autumn is so magical.
