Phyllis Chesler wrote in her 1972 seminal work WOMEN AND MADNESS that as women accrued more power, we’d see many of them abuse it like men do.

Thinking of that today re the ongoing Pam Bondi shit show.

Attorney General Pam Bondi repeatedly deflected questions as she sought during a combative congressional hearing on Tuesday to defend herself against growing criticism that she’s turning the DOJ into a weapon to seek vengeance against President Trump’s political opponents. https://to.pbs.org/4ocaivr

First off, this is horrific.

Second, we could’ve EXPANDED ACA by now into universal healthcare.

But the insurance lobby and a majority of voters were like, nah, let’s go w/ the guy who discussed Arnold Palmer’s dick.

CNN: “An older couple making $85K/year will see their yearly insurance premiums jump from $7K to $25,000 — 30% of their income.” 😳#TrumpShutdown #TrumpHealthCareTax

This is what Dems are drawing attention to and want fixed. Now, not later.

Big thank you to the great @murray.senate.gov for joining Meidas Health today with my great friend and physician leader @drkavitapatel.bsky.social to break down the terrible impacts of rhe government shutdown on our nations health.

Murray: I talked to a family that’s paying about $300 a month for their health insurance. It’s going to jump to over $1,800 per month.

Many people will turn away and not pay for it—obviously, they’ll lose their health insurance. The fewer people who have insurance, the more everybody pays.

IN HONOR OF FRIENDSHIP MONTH:

djt: "We have certain things in common, Jeffrey."

Epstein: "Yes we do, come to think of it."

djt: "A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday- and may every day be another wonderful secret."

And by "wonderful secret", he means raping children.

Prayers up (or good wishes, you get the gist) for Dolly Parton ❤️
yasharali.bsky.social
Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, is asking for people to pray for her sister’s health.
Verified Facebook post by Freida Parton. The caption reads:

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you! ❤️”

Below the caption is a photo of Dolly Parton standing outdoors in front of lush green ivy, hands clasped in prayer, wearing a shiny silver outfit with lace-trimmed sleeves, her signature blonde hair styled in soft curls, looking upward serenely.

This week makes 16 years since my best friend died mountain climbing and his body was found four days later💙🕯️

Like many of you who lost loved ones in the 2000s or 2010s, I’m mourning someone who’d barely recognize the country in its current state.

These motherfuckers have even altered grief.

Sigh. I keep telling you guys, this is not our guy. He's great at trolling, but ultimately he always finds a way to let us down.

I say this as someone who has voted for him in every state wide election, and would, of course, vote for him if he won the nomination. But I hope he isn't our nominee.

This has nothing to do with crime. This is an attempt to crush political dissent.

Never before, in our entire 250 year history, has the military or immigration agents been used like this. It's dystopian, illegal, and it should stop.

Yes, Wells Fargo was a horrible company long before Trump's fascism. I heard consumer advocate, Clark Howard, declare on his podcast that Wells Fargo is a criminal enterprise masquerading as a bank. Remember, banks are beholden to shareholders, credit unions are beholden to their members.

The building is in a 27 million dollar foreclosure filed by Wells Fargo. The next day, Wells Fargo filed an emergency motion for receivership. The fascist regime kindly emptied the building for donor Wells Fargo.

"You do know you just described Jim Crow"

-Ancient Black proverb
motherjones.com
Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire
