I have only about 200 of this which leaves about 3.1k and need to knock as much of this out before court on the 16th so I don't lose my housing.

Okay somewhat decent news.
I actually only owe 3.3k in total and they said they're going to let the courts know I've made payments and we will reach on some kind of payment plan.
So still urgent but slightly less urgent

most people who are against trans rights aren't against it for any principled reason and they need neither to be catered to nor convinced that they were wrong. as soon as the people around them stop acting like trans people are a problem, they will stop thinking trans people are a problem.

model the behavior of someone who hasn't even heard of the *concept* of being against trans rights. take trans existence as a given. treat anyone who concedes to anti-trans talking points like an amoral freak, and don't give them an ounce of your public attention. say what is right with authority

everyone would agree that if you believe in what is right, it doesn't matter if it's controversial. i would go a step further and say: you should not even concede to the *idea* that what you believe is controversial.

trans rights is only controversial if you act like it's controversial.

If a Republican could win in Minneapolis, then this is what their donor base would look like.
An excerpt of an Axios Twin Cities newsletter stating: In Frey's corner: "All of Mpls" - a PAC fueled by donations from several developers, centrist labor unions, the Minneapolis Regional Chamber and even Lyft - has spent nearly $344,000 to influence city races as of late September.
• An offshoot group, "Thrive Mpls," spent another $46,000.
• A third group, "We Love Minneapolis PAC" — underwritten by the Downtown
Council and landlord groups - has spent nearly $122,000 to bolster Frey-aligned council candidates.

Can y’all please be on the lookout for my bike? Last seen in Elliot Park. It is a black Biria bike with red pedals and stickers of local news orgs on the bottom tube. It also has a Brooks saddle and adapters for Wolf Tooth pogies on the handlebars.
Biria bike with a sign that says “300 Campground”

Frey’s proposed 2026 budget defunds them, but emergency housing vouchers are funded in the 2025 budget; MPHA implemented the operational needs to get vouchers out in Q3 for resident use. It’s now Q4 & sitting in CPED. 100 vouchers could be in use right now: 50 for single residents, 50 for families.

Continues to be striking how, since Frey erected the greenway fence to Lake/Nicollet, the crowd has returned en masse to 2900 block of Blaisdell. Frey bleats “you can’t have encampments by home & businesses“ but that’s exactly where he’s pushed these folks. Meanwhile 50 housing vouchers go unfunded.

Minneapolis friends: does anybody want an Omar Fateh yard sign? We ended up with two, oops. I can deliver.

Mpls for the Many Chair Chelsea McFarren- “ Jacob Frey is running on a lie. He’s actively campaigning on what has been a successful citywide program that he is simultaneously defunding. His priority isn’t making sure that this program is funded, his priority is getting reelected"
Mpls for the Many Chair Chelsea McFarren had this to say about Frey’s campaign running on a successful program he’s currently defunding:

“Once again, Jacob Frey is running on a lie. He’s actively campaigning on what has been a successful citywide program that he is simultaneously defunding. If Jacob Frey’s own budget is passed, Stable Homes, Stable Schools, as we know it, won’t exist at this time next year. But Mayor Frey isn’t concerned with the communities that could benefit from this program in the future, he’s only concerned with optics. His priority isn’t making sure that this program is funded, his priority is getting re-elected. Jacob Frey’s entire two terms of “leadership” have been lip service: telling our communities what they want to hear, while only prioritizing the interests of his corporate mega donors.”

mpls for the many press release - "Jacob Frey Running Campaign Ads for School Housing Program He’s Defunding"

"The budget the Mayor released in August is $3.2 million short of funding. If Jacob Frey’s budget is passed, Stable Homes, Stable Schools will cease to exist at this time next year."
MINNEAPOLIS — Stable Homes, Stable Schools has been a keynote policy for the City of Minneapolis since it was introduced in 2019. Mayor Jacob Frey and Council Members alike have lauded this cross-jurisdictional program that has served children across the city. There’s just one problem: the budget the Mayor released in August is $3.2 million short of funding the program. If Jacob Frey’s budget is passed, Stable Homes, Stable Schools will cease to exist at this time next year. According to Council Member Robin Wonsley’s Ward 2 newsletter:

“The Mayor’s staff shared that their current budget will result in the following projected budget shortfalls for Stable Homes Stable Schools: $3.2 in 2026, $4.3M in 2027, and $4.9M in 2028.”

This is a theme we keep repeating too. Until you see it for yourself, I think it’s hard to really understand how completely unnecessary and disproportionately violent the federal response has been.

How much is for fun, terror, or social media, I don’t know. A mix of the three for sure.

I've never seen such escalation and use of force toward ends I just could not see. There was no real property destruction, no pushing into the neighborhoods to make arrests, very little obstructing of traffic. Saw chemicals and bangs deployed down streets the feds were not facing and did not travel.

20+ Chicago cops injured from the feds tossing tear gas around today.

CPD has 20+ injured on duty this afternoon, most/all from federal use of gas. Related: no arrests by CPD, no documented uses of force by CPD. (I wasn't everywhere / didn't see every skirmish. And possibly some late-entry TRR forms to come.) Saw two federal arrests, saw one on video didn't witness.

Chaos in Brighton Park. This is representative of the amount / direction of pepper and smoke sent into the neighborhood, in this case, for no reason I can discern other than because they were leaving. Feds had a clear path out in a different direction, and residents were vocal but not violent here.

One first step people should do to respond to this is start using the “report a speed trap” function in Apple Maps to report where ICE is operating. Make Apple party to the attempt to protect people.

Among other things (e.g. "reality-based liberal"), interrupting and blocking my view of my kid's soccer game is not a good way to make a first impression!

This is the third time Donald Trump’s Republican Party has failed to keep the government from shutting down WHILE HOLDING MAJORITIES IN BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS—but for some reason, only Democrats are expected to seek bipartisan compromises.
