If they cause radar interference, then offshore oil rigs, which are way bigger, way more invasive, way more dangerous to life and limb, and way more complex, should also be stopped for the same reasons.

Watching the spiked 60 Minutes episode on YouTube, thanks to @phillewis.bsky.social. It's not like the Trump admin didn't have its say. At about 4:15 mark, there is footage of Trump saying CECOT was "great facilities, very strong facilities"

The whole notion that you can’t air an investigative segment on immigration without going to Stephen Miller for comment is absurd.

Honestly, the notion that adding Stephen Miller’s charisma and integrity would help the administration is what’s really delusional.

It looks like it's been scrubbed from every official 60 Minutes page now.

It's only a 30-second promo but here it is if you didn't get a chance to see it.

Not trying to be a bluesky jerk, but choosing when and for who the rules must be followed closely (like insisting on Trump admin comment before a torture story can run) is a function of ideology, not inexperience.

really cannot be emphasized enough that bari weiss has literally never done journalism. i don’t mean that in the pejorative sense. i mean that in the “has never performed the job she was hired to do” sense
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

CBS paid the president of the United States millions in bribe money and now they censor news reports so it does not annoy him. I don’t know how much plainer we can put this.

Expect a "revolt" among 60 Minutes staff over Bari Weiss pulling the CECOT segment at the last minute, one network insider told me.

Another CBS News reporter added that a Rubicon had been crossed with this decision, which 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi called "political" and not editorial.

Almost every story Weiss greenlit at the Free Press lacked sufficient context. It's kinda their entire schtick.

It’s nativism in a local jacket, and it’s gross.

Sadly, I am very acquainted, having been active in a lot of political campaigns and movements, with the cliche NYer like John whose entire philosophy boils down to: “I’ve been eating shit my whole life! And now you move here from ___ and tell me you’re too GOOD to eat shit?! Fuck you!”

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
