Anytime I see "my phone needs to be waterproof because I keep dropping it in the toilet / sink/ pool / Trevi fountain" I start to understand why TV Shop ads have those clumsy people struggling with basic chores, like being careful with their tiny pocket computer, because they really are out there.

kinda feel that someone has to come up with a non-proprietary file format for vector images aimed at actual design work (not "for web") and a program that takes on CorelDraw and Illustrator because fuck me, SVG and Inkscape certainly isn't it.

I was probably getting my first PC around this day 28 years ago. 260.000$ (adjusted, just under 2300€) got me a Pentium 166 (16MB RAM, 2MB S3 Trio, ESS Audiodrive soundcard, 1.6 GB HD, 24x CD Drive IIRC), 14" monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard, software, and an HP 690C printer.
