havent seen Cloverfield in a while so i cant vouch for everything in it but i remember liking it a lot as a kid for the reasons you listed - no gore, not a lot of dialogue, genuinely scary / thrilling

in high school a friend of mine kept being like "Lo, put down the photoshop and stop giving yourself blue eyeballs." - i had no idea what she meant until yesterday when my doctor was like "fun fact, Ehlers Danlos can make the whites of your eyeballs look blue-tinted in photos." now i understand !!
