Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.
A highland cow having a little nap on a boulder on Dartmoor (ok, it was actually scratching its head)

Troy Aikman: "Another three-and-out for the Chargers, and Harbaugh cannot be happy about that."

Joe Buck: "Here comes the punt on 4th and 13th"

Aristides of Epidamnos: "Behold! Harbaugh, son of Jack and seed of Zeus, addresses the assembled team with winged words"

It's @ingforart.bsky.social's theory of Antifascist Clowns.

Fash street thugs want to fight to show toughness, but clowns are a step too far. If they win against the clown, the best they can say is they beat up a clown. But if they lose? Even if it's a %1 chance... there's no coming back from that

The best part of how Portland is handling this is they’re not only protesting, but also angering the goose steppers by not taking them seriously.

Pretty genius. Because even ICE & the national guard don’t want to be displayed as that asshole fighting people in cute costumes.

The only way you didn't go crazy from computer is if you know what really whips the llamas ass

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13

The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

it's truly a despairingly stupid time in history when you can get a wealthy patron by making a stupid tech startup that's never gonna get off the ground but can't get one by being a polymath artisan obsessively pursuing your mercurial interests

How many trillions of dollars have been invested into this technology so far?
Google search for "austria hungary in space"

Google excitedly tells you about the 1889 orbital flight, and that by 1908 there was a Mars research output with 30 people.

Look at what we could have. look at what our tax dollars could pay for. Instead we’re paying to have ICE pepper spray directly into the air hole of a guy in an inflatable frog costume

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

Good bye, Lenin! (2003)
Listen. Either you gel over a comedic yet thoughtful meditation on the nature of Ostalgie in the recently unified Germany (and beyond), or you don’t. Since there are very few ways of finding this out organically, caveat emptor

Oct 7th - Day of the Republic for East Germany prior to reunification. In an effort to keep his mother from finding out about the reunification, Alex “celebrates” the holiday. For him, it’s actually October 2nd, 1990

📽️📅 Good Bye, Lenin! (2003)
4 Screenshots from the movie "Good Bye, Lenin!" (2003): First, a woman lies in bed with a somber expression, with the subtitle "Because Mother could hardly wait," suggesting anticipation or impatience. Second, a hand adjusts a calendar on the wall, the subtitle reads, "we celebrated the country's birthday on October 2 instead of October 7, 1990," indicating an early celebration. Third, a young man with short hair glances sideways, standing in a dimly lit room, with the subtitle "It was the day before official reunification," hinting at a significant historical event. Fourth, a close-up of a calendar page showing "7 Oktober Sonntag," adorned with small decorative flowers, symbolizing a specific date of importance.
