An info page about robots in the Apex Society Universe. Unfortunately there's too much text to fit in the word limit here. I'll have to summarize.

First touches on artificial beings created through magic, like Golems and Hephaestus' handmaidens. Then there's the story of the mechanical soldiers that guarded holy relics of the Buddha. Then Yan Shi of 4th Century China who built a lifelike artificial man out of wood and leather. Then a mention of the automatons of the underground civilization the Vril-Ya. Then the clockwork woman Olimpia built by Dr. Coppelius. Then the word robot being coined by Rossum's Universal Robots.

After that, there's the Freemechs - freed robot workers from Counter-Earth who set themselves up on the Counter-Earth moon of Kapek as a safe haven for mechanical lifeforms.

Then the story of Robo Sol Incvictus, built in the 50s to battle the superhero Sol Invictus - but reprogrammed to act just like him. He was eventually relocated to Kapek.

Finally, there's C.R.A.S.H. (Crimefighting Robot Army with Synthetic Hivemind), an army of robots resembling crash test dummies who share a single mind. They were built by Krackle Inc. but the program was downsized after one of the units broke away from the hive-mind and attempted to destroy humanity in the early 80s.

"I have a proposal. Some say it's modest. I've heard people call it the most modest proposal they've ever heard. I don't know about that, but it's been said about it, for sure."

So cool that whenever someone asks the president, “did you eat the Lindbergh baby” he’s like, “no but I’d be allowed to, I have the right to, I might do it later”

I remember seeing a thing on the A.I. children's books that have flooded Amazon and the prose all sounds like plot summaries or ad copy. This is the political observation version of that.

Ireland continued to export food during the famine. No, really.
mel.bzky.team
one fun fact is that northern germany was nearly as reliant on potatoes as ireland but unlike ireland they didnt have the catastrophic misfortune of Being Governed By The English so not literally everyone was forced to fucking starve
mel.bzky.team
overall pretty impressive that the irish potato famine gets into the top rankings of "most fucked up things humans have done to other humans" in the continent of europe because like good lord thats a competitive leaderboard

1. A Norwegian movie from this year called The Ugly Stepsister. Highly recommended. It's Cinderella through the lens of The Substance.

90s Flash Gordon with the rare half-a-croptop.
Still from the 90s Flash Gordon Cartoon. Flash, a RADICAL 90s youth with a blond "Don Bluth Protagonist" haircut. He's wearing red pants with a few belts, a tight red t-shirt that reveals his entire belly, and over that is a white tank top - or half of one, anyway. The other side is attached with a belt.

He's accompanied by Dale Arden, with black shoulder-length hair and a green croptop, and Talon, a brown-skinned man with white feathered wings in a yellow, blue, and black spandex costume and beige helmet.

It's @ingforart.bsky.social's theory of Antifascist Clowns.

Fash street thugs want to fight to show toughness, but clowns are a step too far. If they win against the clown, the best they can say is they beat up a clown. But if they lose? Even if it's a %1 chance... there's no coming back from that

The best part of how Portland is handling this is they’re not only protesting, but also angering the goose steppers by not taking them seriously.

Pretty genius. Because even ICE & the national guard don’t want to be displayed as that asshole fighting people in cute costumes.

Fay Wray was almost 7 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand II was assassinated and she could also have listened to the first Franz Ferdinand album.

2. Abraham's Boys: A take on Dracula and its aftermath, based on a story by Joe Hill. I sadly found it extremely dull, despite an interesting premise. I can only assume the short story worked better.
