All those thinking the private sector would find a way to solve climate change, when of course all it was ever going to do was find ways to produce even more emissions and f*ck the environment royally.

Because well... that's all it ever has done.

Not sure if this is paywalled, but prepare for a whole lot more legitimised fossil fuel propaganda now that the Libs have caved. www.smh.com.au/business/com...
Thank you for not coaling, Canberra
In this edition of On Background, the National Press Club’s upcoming coal love-in, News Corp’s internal staff dash cams, the A-Leagues’ broadcast race heats up and a poster fight at the ABC.

Dear ABC radio, please have somebody with more expertise than me explain to you why “renewables are the cheapest form of power” and “power prices have gone up in the last years in spite of increased renewables” are not contradictory statements. And why slowing renewables will not bring prices down.

Powerful piece. “The men now working to rehabilitate Heydon – many..the same ones who once drank in his chambers – never saw his predation. They weren’t his targets. His charm & wit never came with a proposition. That behaviour was reserved for young women like me.” www.theage.com.au/national/i-w...
I was among this disgraced judge’s victims. Attempts to honour him are an insult
The former High Court judge Dyson Heydon is being rehabilitated in some parts of the legal profession. It’s galling.

Excellent article by Rock Morton in the Saturday Paper this morning, on consultants Nous. These guys are so endemic in university managements I ended up writing a whole paper about them. They're basically vampires www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/educati...
‘Mind-boggling stupidity’: The consultancy that captured universities
Nous Group has slowly taken over the university sector, filling VCs’ offices with ex-staff and buying ‘incredibly sensitive’ data that is sold back for benchmarking.

Australians voted for climate action.

More than 50 organisations have signed an open letter to the Prime Minister, united under one message: Climate action means no new coal and gas.

Exceptional article in The Age/SMH about Advance and the #AtlasNetwork and, as ‘journalist Mungo MacCallum said at the time, "a stratospherically elite clique of rich, bored men looking for a hobby".’ They are trying to turn Australia into a Trumpian hellscape. #Auspol archive.is/2025.04.17-1...
