warmongering.

Part of the transition from conservatism to authoritarianism is the shift from lies with some veneer of plausibility (wink wink) to lies that are demonstrably, obviously lies, such that accepting them involves an almost total subjugation of individual discernment or judgment.

They may not, but too many Americans are too busy in their own little worlds too do anything. That, or they don't think it will affect them, or hoping someone else will deal with it.

I'd say thank God a Pearl Harbor isn't about to happen, but it is happening right now. It's just Americans doing it.
