The stories that ended up being published Sunday night/Monday morning weren't scoops—they were just reporting what Trump had said on Friday with no additional details. There was nothing in those stories they had to wait to corroborate.
In mainstream newsrooms by and large you're not supposed to share details about stories you're still reporting out. You can't scoop your own stories on social media while they're still "in train" so to speak
I think it's really worth noting that literally ZERO mainstream media outlets were talking about Trump claiming a land strike on Venezuela until a few others and I noticed this post here on Sunday and started asking questions. That goes completely unacknowledged in coverage.

A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.
When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.
