2017 was the last Christmas I got to spend with my younger brother.
My brother loved gin rummy and backgammon, two games I learned to play so we could play. I loved D&D, so he learned so we could play. Neither of us said so, but that was our love language.

I miss him a lot this week.

Seanan makes the only truly relevant point; children are completely their own persons, and what their parents, guardians, or the state wish them to be does not mean they must be those things.

Let people, all people, be who they are or who they are aspiring to be. The world will be better if we do.
I keep wanting to say something, and I keep not knowing what to say.

The trans community does not harm cis people by existing. They are just trying to live their lives, same as anyone else. That life doesn't look exactly like mine; my life doesn't match anyone else's. That's okay.

Saw “Wake Up Dead Man.” Enjoyed the hell out of it. Worth your time to see. There will be no spoilers from me, other than to say Rian Johnson makes good movies. Yes, even “that one.”

Tonight’s D&D game had comedy, drama, action, surprises, and a wicked long combat. I think I finally got combat tuned just right for a good experience that was neither too easy nor too hard.

I don’t know what I have done in this life or the last to deserve the love and affection of my cat, but I am glad I did it.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a .gif. Hard mode: no Stars (either Wars or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

Um, whoops?

Has our short form video consumption affected books? I explored my hunch that yes, it has, in my latest video on my second channel:
Short form videos are making books BAD
There's a lot to this: reading rate being down; attention spans dwindling; and short form content boiling everything down to it's most basic, un-nuanced take. The results is some pretty bad…

Today is Holiday Tree Day. I want to give my kids the kind of holiday memories I have from the best parts of my childhood.

So today, off to buy a tree and decorations so they can help set it up and decorate it.

My “quick and easy” D&D campaign idea from 2020 turned out to be neither “quick” nor “easy.”

The implications of foundational events expands, changing my thoughts on how the premise must evolve.

I have material for a couple of novels rather than a D&D game.

I installed bird feeders in my back yard on the weekend. The birds discovered them on Tuesday. My cat has been glued to the window and making little “I want” chirps every moment of daylight since.

It’s almost as if I have CatTV with the premium package.

Just finished “The Diplomat” season 3. My gut says this is a good show. I like all the nods to “The West Wing.” The pacing and tensions are good. But never have I felt like every single character is being willfully arrogant and stupid the way they are in this show.

I have found treasure.

And by that I mean ARCs of my favorite book I've written. I'll throw them up, signed, on the shop for the cost of shipping only soon.

It's a rape revenge novel and how I processed my own disassociation post attack.

Holiday cooking has begun. I just finished making cranberry-mandarin sauce so it has a few days to age in the fridge before Thursday.
