In the 9.5 weeks since I’ve started hiking I’ve hiked 89 miles, in two different states, in forests, the desert, farmland, towns and cities. Of the 89, 41 of those miles went towards my goal of hiking the complete Ice Age Trail. Might not sound like a lot but I’m 3.5% closer to finishing.

Did a 4 mile walk around the village yesterday in heavy drizzle. My new hiking coat isn’t exactly waterproof but it kept me warm and dry.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. N got the uggs she wanted, I got a puffy coat for winter hiking and C got some really nice leather slippers. My lasagna was kick ass and the garlic bread I made with homemade roasted garlic butter was perfection.

Did my first couple miles of the ahnapee state trail yesterday in Algoma which is partially used in the IAT. The trail part of it was covered in ice but luckily there was enough snow on top to make it not too slippery. wasn’t too cold.

My daughter is hitting puberty and just like me is dealing with feeling like nobody is like her at her school and she feels desperately lonely despite having a good group of friends. I thought having her in therapy would help but she’s rejected even talking in therapy so we’re taking a break.
