I have a question. Was Friedman invited because he had published a book with these views? If so, debate about it should have followed his presentation at the festival. Q&A are what writers’ festivals are about. Otherwise they’re no better than book signings.

IMO fascism is a term losing its force by being too easily bandied about. Modern Zionism can be condemned without labeling it something else. However you describe it, it’s a tragedy for the Jewish people in the long term.
