I love the amazing textures of a good Laccaria mushroom. I believe this might be Laccaria bicolor, but I'm not 100% certain. The fuzzy purple base, super fibrous stipe, and slightly rough-textured orange cap are fun to examine up close 🍄📷 📸🎞 🌱🌿 🍄 📷 🍄‍🟫

Looking like white antlers on top of a fuzzy black stalk, Xylaria hypoxylon, the candle snuff fungus, grows out of the ground with shining beads of water cleaning to webs near its base. Vibrant green moss swirls behind it.

Jungle fungi! Here's one of my favorite mushroom finds from my last trip to Costa Rica. I believe this is the purple pinwheel, Marasmius haematocephalus. Such a beautiful color to see with the vibrant green of the jungle 💜🎡 🍄📷 🌿🌱 🟢 📸🎞 🍄 📷
A hair-thin stipe grows off of the end of a dark brown broken stick. It leans left at 45° and the cap is centered in the photo. The cap is a deep red (though the mushroom's name is the purple pinwheel) and is shaped like a half-opened umbrella.

A lone Mycena, likely Mycena haematopus, the bleeding bonnet mushroom, grows out from underneath a layer of mud along a bank and corrects its direction by sensing gravity. The act of this is called gravitropism! 🙃🙂 🍄📷 📸🎞 🌿🌱 🩸 🍄‍🟫 🍄 📷
A pinkish-red mushroom, likely Mycena haematopus, the bleeding bonnet mushroom, grows out from underneath a muddy overhang. Its stem forms a "u" shape, and its cap is oriented perfectly vertically after it corrected its direction by sensing gravity, a process called gravitropism.

This is one of my favorite types of huge mushrooms! This is the midnight enteloma, a dark blue and almost galactic-looking fungus. They can look a bit different than this when they're not at the last stage of their lifecycle, but I found this one to be still really pretty 💙🔵 🍄📷 📸🎞 🌿🌱 🟢 🍄‍🟫 🍄 📷
A tall, dark-blue-capped mushroom towers over decaying leaf and fir needle duff. Its stipe is about 6-8" tall and is a rusty orange with a bunch of rusty-looking fluff near the base at the ground level. As the stipe approaches the cap, it gets a bit more off-white and blueish. The cap is a gorgeous blend of dark blue at the margin, fading to a yellow-ish white at the center. The caps edge is a bit frilly, and in certain parts, the gills flare upwards and are visible wven though this photo was taken at a slight downwards angle.

Second to the Gliophorus genus, Hygrocybe mushrooms are my next favorite kind of fungi to come across. Their wide variety of colors, which tend to be vibrant, make discovering them so much fun, especially in settings of brown and green ❤️🔴 🍄📷 📸🎞 🌿🌱 🟢 🍄‍🟫 🍄 📷
A gorgeous and vibrant red mushroom protrudes from the ground, which is made up of dark brown forest litter. Its stipe is shaped like a backward "L" and its cap is concave. The stipe is a gorgeous and fiery red. The gills, which flare upwards from the point at which the stipe connects to the cap to the cap margin, are a glowing yellow-orange color.
