Hermit beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Osmoderma eremicola) are native to woodlands in parts of eastern North America. Although they live in rotting logs, adults often emerge at night and may come to lights. That made this individual easy prey for one of my cats. Blissfield Michigan, 12 Aug 2025.
