Do men see gender parity in representation as detrimental to their interests? What about when women’s representation exceeds parity? And how do such shifts affect men’s fairness perceptions? I address these questions in my article, now published in PRQ. 1/9

“a little fight with the wife”

I know we already know this is who he is, but somehow I’m still shaking with fury.

Trump claims crime is down to "virtually nothing" in DC & adds the crimes that are happening are "much lesser things. Things that take place in the home they call crime. You know, they'll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight w/the wife they say 'this is a crime. See?'"

Our findings suggest that football can be a powerful tool for social change, but effects may be heterogeneous and how campaigns impact social change deserves further examination.
malugatto.bsky.social
HOWEVER, as our complementary analyses show, *women* fans exposed to their Club's anti-sexism campaign are more likely to evaluate the Club as responsive to fans' preferences.
malugatto.bsky.social
Men randomly exposed to the Club's anti-sexism campaign are also less likely to support their Club's campaigning in other areas, including racial equality, LGBT-phobia, and environmental protection.
malugatto.bsky.social
Against the Club's intention, we find that the Club's campaign prompts male fans to express attitudes towards women in football that are *more* sexist.
malugatto.bsky.social
Next, we examine whether this identity can also be leveraged for changing expressed attitudes. Specifically, with a survey experiment conducted in partnership with Bahia Football Club, we examine the impact of the Club's anti-sexism campaign on their fans' attitudes.
malugatto.bsky.social
First, we examine the salience of football fandom identity. Using data from a national survey, we find that 75% of Brazilian respondents identify with a football club—a higher share than those who identify with a political party or a social movement.

➡️ @victoraraujo.bsky.social shows that Brazil’s evangelical boom is linked to lower voter turnout and greater conservatism, but not to a rise in electoral competition or polarization www.cambridge.org/core/journal... #FirstView
