Patriarchy protects predators

It’s not surprising they’re suppressing the Epstein list

Survivors don’t matter. It’s about protecting the men

Look at Gisele Pelicot. Raped by over 50 men who were all convicted. Dragged back into court because one felt he shouldn’t have to bear the label of rapist

I’m suddenly getting daily calls from charities trying to sign me up to monthly donations. SPCA, Diabetes NZ, Greenpeace… all from the same call centre in Auckland. It’s getting highly annoying, especially as someone who can barely buy groceries each week. I donate when I’m able.

The Govt wants to cut Health NZ staff working on alcohol harm & end its research & social marketing campaigns. Sixty five organisations have signed an open letter to the PM, calling for alcohol industry to be excluded from policy making.
My #cartoon today #NZpol #alcohol #Health #PublicHealth
Cartoon. Title: “Sponsored by the Alcohol Lobby”. Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey and Assoc Justice Minister Nicole McKee, drinking together. McKee hands her beer to Doocey and says, “Hold my beer” “I’m going to sort out these Public Health boffins. Lower right it says, “Govt ignores expert advice on alcohol”

with her; my “safe place”.

By this time she was tiny and frail after years of battling bowel cancer that eventually took over her lungs and stomach too.

While I realise how privileged I was to have her as my Gran, her departure broke me. I was never the same after that. #RIPGran
A family of three girls; their mother and father to the right; their grandfather and grandmother to the left. It is Christmas, so there are lots of opened presents in front of the children. This was the last Christmas for grandmother Marj. 1990. Marjorie Gane, middle front.
6 nurses from Waikato Hospital (?) in their full uniforms. Signatures from fellow nursing students in my Gran’s autograph book. Go my good friend,

On this Day in 1921 - Marjorie Jessica Gane was born. She lived 69 years and made it through to Queen’s Birthday Weekend,1991.

She grew up farming in the Waikato, eventually taking over the family farm and running it by herself. She also trained as a nurse during WW2.

1990 was my last Christmas

Now I feel like everything is my fault.

Winston has had a secure taxpayer funded salary/expenses for 40+ years. He has a full fridge, a warm house & security. He has no excuse for being such a nasty, divisive, vile old man spewing discord, misinfo & hate about as well as dismantling health, safety&security for NZers & the environment.

Aotearoa: there's been at least 21 people in hospital with covid PER WEEK (if I'm reading this correctly)

Please keep up to date with your covid-19 booster vaccinations, if you can

I'm currently recovering from my 2nd bout. Being boostered & masking helped reduce my risk of being hospitalised

21 cases in hospital with covid on Sunday night (previous known low is 22)

‘Choir’ Is such a weird word.
I mean, it rhymes with ‘wire’, but the spelling makes no sense when you’re trying to teach a child to read. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pt2🧵: Greta Thunberg deported to Athens says, "Global Samud Flotilla are not heroes. Our mistreatment by Israel is not the story. We need more than humanitarian aid to Gaza, we need to stop the decades-long siege. The violence of 'business as usual.' Genocides fueled by our own governments."

I still haven’t watched it. I know I’ll love it, but I also know it’s going to wreck me emotionally. I’ll work up the courage one of these days!

Apart from massive job losses out of the economy, changes to youth benefit come in the wake of: polytech closures, less funding for mental health, no extra funding for universities, changes to NCEA that mess with vocational training (hospitality) & force YP into SL debt

Jobseeker changes: 'Punished for economic crisis they didn't create'
The prime minister says benefit dependency is a "tragedy" and tightened criteria resets expectations - but a youth advocate says they have never met a young person who doesn't want to find work.

I couldn’t get the student allowance either. I worked 3 part-time jobs while training to be a teacher. Plus had a student loan. Such a shit-show.
