Was told by a vet that you can 'probably' perform CPR on a snake, and all I could think was...
a man wearing a party hat is drinking from a bottle
Alt: A fella in a party hat blowing one of those party streamer things that unroll as you blow into them. Whether snakes give a merry toot when you do this to them isn't mentioned in the scientific literature. Yet.

Take that, SNCF! 🤣

European Sleeper to run Paris-Berlin night train from the spring of next year www.lemonde.fr/economie/art...

There are hurdles - doing it by then isn’t simple - but this can happen.

This makes the SNCF behaviour here look so painful

“Waaah we can’t run this without a big subsidy, we can’t even sell tickets for our own train. We’ll have to cancel it.”

So Eurostar has *finally* ordered trains from Alstom

But only 30 (with options for 20 more) - enough only to replace the ex-Thalys fleet, meaning it's possible we still never see these in the Channel Tunnel #CrossChannelRail

What I make of the news - longer analysis:

Eurostar ordering just 30 Alstom trains: pragmatism, and a lack of ambition - Jon Worth
Put all the rhetoric to one side. In announcing today they are ordering 30 Alstom Avelia Horizon (TGV-M) double decker trains (see the FT here), with only options for 20 more, Eurostar is being less a...

The amazing detail in this story is this lad's neighbour frantically whistling to try and draw the ship's attention to the dangerous local hazard known as [checks notes] Norway.

If it hadn't noticed houses are generally stand on vessels a bit of whistling probably ain't going to do it, fella.

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

So here in France we have a 5G-enabled electricity meter called Linky, which naturally here in the land where people who live in heaven think they live in hell there were all kinds of protests — Linky gives you cancer, makes your kids autistic, kills your dog, sets your house on fire, and so on.

This must be the most SNCF reason given for a delay.

On behalf of the entire aviation industry, let me be the first to say "fuck this guy"
Trump, reading off of prepared remarks, is seemingly linking a lack of aviation talent (and the cause of the crash?) to diversity, equity and inclusion policies from the previous administration. He is now reading off of the FAA website.

I’m having 2 weeks off and what better way to spend it than by goon to Helsinki, the long way round. Day 1: Utrecht - Hamburg via Amersfoort and Osnabrück. Diverted past Maschen, which was a sight to see in the dark. ☺️

The once a day Berlin-Paris ICE train is *nice to have*

But that’s it

It’s 8 hours, so too long for most. It’s once a day

Anyone heralding it as “revolutionising travel” or “historic” is totally missing the mark

What we NEED: Paris-Frankfurt hourly, all day. That’d be progress!
