Recovering baseball blogger.
Used to write about baseball at USS Mariner (mostly), Baseball Prospectus (rarely), and probably a few places I’ve forgotten. Love music, Seattle sports, cooking.
This isnt the same one, but loved this barrow right by a road, and very close to a stone circle.

The late, great Aethelred.
Died in 2021. We had him 19 years and got him as an adult rescue, so he lived a long long time. What a guy.

Hmmm. Lots of good candidates, I think. Kind of a no-wrong-answers kind of deal. Reasonable minds, etc.

Here he is, pitching in Seattle as a home player. He got so, so close.

Made some tonkatsu tonight and because my wife found some chicken of the woods near Mt Rainier, chicken of the woods katsu. Go M’s. What do Minnesota grapes taste like?

I agree with Hyphen that to *get* to pitch at 40+ you need to be elite, but that’s why Moyer is so weird. Terrible in his 20s until something clicked, and then great well into his 40s. Caught him in the minors while trying to get back to the majors to pitch at age 50. What a pitcher.

I love nature, and just got to see some incredible birds in Costa Rica, but…and I hate to critique nature, this bird is *patently unfinished*. This is like 91% of a bird, and it’s a great start, but there are major, critical-for-life systems that seem to be missing here. Finish this bird!

This was me many years ago re: DeAndre Yedlin.

Oh, uh…how do I do that? Hold on.

Some Spurs chaps from the later part of the era in which watching them meant driving to a bar with a Special Channel.

I went with M’s prospect-to-trade-fodder guys.

Congrats to Pete Alonso, seems like a great guy. Just have to point out that this graphic looks - to a guy from Tacoma - that he’ll be making an appearance at the Point Defiance zoo and aquarium. Which, to be clear, would be awesome.

Not a video, but here’s Ortiz’s pitches that day. The pitch in question is the slider that’s furthest from the outside edge of the zone, but not particularly low.

Was on the fence, and the onion man did indeed nudge me towards going, and…I felt a lot better.

I saw crows dive bombing something close by. Went outside and almost tripped on a red tailed hawk who’d just nabbed a rabbit.

It’s not all bloody. This young squirrel survived some kind of attack yesterday. Freaked him out, but he was able to get away.

Missed the Sounders game tonight, so I was home to practically trip on. Hawk that caught a rabbit in my yard. It was not going to leave its prey.

Tough dog until she sees a sign. Any sign. Road signs have the high ground, and could be little doggy guillotines. Real estate signs? Who knows, but they’ll get you. Little A-frame things on the sidewalk? Probably concealing mortal threats.
Don’t get her started on garbage bins.

I should be better about that. You’re right.
