Recovering baseball blogger.
Used to write about baseball at USS Mariner (mostly), Baseball Prospectus (rarely), and probably a few places I’ve forgotten. Love music, Seattle sports, cooking.
Ah, my old college cluster in SoCal. It’s definitely gotten smaller as teams ditch football.

No no, it’s separated by….the least impressive mountain range in Europe.

Nania Business continues unabated, despite imprisonment. I love that a 1950s baseball team seems to have been involved. We have a Dizzy, a Smokey, a Weasel, and a Camel.

I get why it doesn’t come up for people, as he wasn’t well known as a Yankee, but yeah - he just is one of those guys I think of as playing for both teams.

Golden, Strawberry, for some reason Al Leiter, and, weirdest of all, Lee Guetterman (I’m a Mariners fan, and he was one of the tallest players in pre-Randy Johnson MLB). Oh, Rickey Henderson for sure.

Hooo boy, you are going to hear from my fellow Mariners olds. I…don’t quite know where to start, so I will just say this is a list made according to your criteria and those *differ* from mine and that’s cool. I still feel like there’s a gas leak or something, but that is probably a function of age.

I always had a similar pang when people say “Citation needed.” No, I do not think anyone *needs* a Citation. One *endures* a Citation. I served hard time with a Citation.

There was some call back to Devereaux when Brandon Nimmo came up, as I think Devereaux was the only Wyoming native to regularly play CF. And then Nimmo didn’t play a ton of CF…

Mike Devereaux?

Was just going to say that the kebab shops I remember were Kurdish, and I remember talking about that with proprietors in my extremely rough Norwegian. I had my first doner in Oslo, in Lillestrøm, in Bergen, and many others, *also* in 1997. (The dressing was very good, as I recall)

It’s been many decades, but I’ve still not had better kebabs than I had in Norway. Maybe they were just new to me, but there was something great about the bread. Yes, I’ve been to Berlin. I like those too.

And to extend that metaphor, the Blue Jays only got an invite by beating up on an NAIA team in Idaho. It’s weird.

Just wanted to say the original came on in a Thai restaurant I was in the other day and it was the most random mix of things I had ever heard, and I had to live tweet it in my group chat. You start off with “Car” and then a deep cut by Sly and the Family Stone and you HAVE my attention.

Let’s say Screaching Weasel at the Fireside Bowl?

Still remember having to cross country ski home from after school care, as the hills made it impossible to drive. I can’t recall how I would’ve skied UP one of those north Tacoma hills. Dad probably had to tow me.
